The Triple Threat Blues Band has been delivering house-rockin' music to Southern Connecticut audiences for over fifteen years. A five-piece ensemble that doesn't play too loud, Triple Threat is equally suited to small clubs, larger venues, and private parties. With vocals, guitar, keyboards (piano & organ), bass, drums, and tenor sax, Triple Threat offers extreme versatility. The band applies a tough, musical approach to an adaptable repertoire of blues, R&B, funk, swing, and rock & roll.

TRIPLE THREAT HIGHLIGHTS:

~Triple Threat maintains an outstanding website: www.TripleThreatBluesBand.com, and aggressively employs other promotional tools (including an extensive e-mailing list) to the mutual benefit of the band and its venues.

~The band has been a fixture at such renowned clubs as New Haven’s Cafe Nine (intimate), and Toad’s Place (large & loud), where Triple Threat routinely opened for national and regional acts. Until its recent closing, The Boxcar in Southport was the area’s premier blues club; Triple Threat played there regularly, and opened for legendary bluesman James Cotton.

~In 1993, then-members of Triple Threat served in the recording band of  blues music’s premier star, B. B. King, on his children’s project Rainy Day Blues.

~Triple Threat has twice advanced to the finals of The Connecticut Blues Society’s Best Blues Band Competition, and has been honored in the New Haven Advocate’s reader’s poll (“Best Blues Band” category).

~Triple Threat is comfortable in country clubs and biker bars, at weddings, corporate events, and backyard barbecues. Want cocktail-style jazz, or acoustic blues, rock, & folk? No problem! Triple Threat offers a deep, authentic blues base, plus popular favorites, and exceptionally strong forays into various styles of American roots music.

~Triple Threat has garnered press for benefit shows at Black Rock’s Avenue Cafe. The Fairfield County Weekly said:

The Avenue is not skimping on their entertainment, bringing...bands that have both technical chops and original prowess. The Triple Threat Blues Band begins..., alternating between slow and melodic countrified blues and gruff, powerful southern-style blues...a saxophone augments the drizzly blues chords coming from band founder Chris Cass.

band member bios:

Chris Cass     guitar
The Triple Threat Blues Band has been Chris' musical vehicle since he founded the band as a high school student in the 1980's. After attending Berklee College of Music (1985-89), Chris returned to southern CT, where the band continues to work steadily. Chris serves as the band's leader and musical director. He also teaches guitar, and is the author of Sensible Guitar.

Jerry Capuano     vocals, organ, piano
Jerry was with Triple Threat in 1993, and returned in January 2006. The band has eagerly welcomed Jerry back. Aside from exceptionally strong vocals, Jerry's keyboard skills represent a new dimension for Triple Threat. Jerry spent many years with one of Southern CT's other fine blues bands, Smokin' Opey. A seasoned veteran with a renewed passion for playing, Jerry has reinvigorated the band with his return.

Darren McGuire     saxophone
Darren McGuire attended Berklee College of Music at the same time as Triple Threat guitarist Chris Cass (1985-89). Despite traveling in the same circles, and even living in the same building for a year, the two did not meet until Darren answered a "sax player wanted" ad taken out by Triple Threat in 1995. The fit seemed perfect from the beginning. After a single audition/rehearsal, Darren debuted with Triple Threat at a high-profile Toad's Place engagement. Despite having a car accident on the way to that show, Darren made the gig and played well, overcoming a nasty head wound! This level of toughness and determination has been embraced by the band, and typifies Triple Threat's seriousness of purpose. Musically, Darren's primary influences are the great jazz tenor players of the 1940's, '50's, and 60's, especially Sonny Rollins. However, Darren possesses the underrated ability to shift easily into other styles, and is equally comfortable playing funk grooves, R&B, and down & dirty blues.

Pat Satta     bass
Pat is a long-time member of Triple Threat. His steadiness and reliability remain a trademark of the band. The son of a jazz saxophonist, Pat grew up around music, and was influenced by the great rock and soul artists of the 1960's. Pat developed into a Stax/Motown stylist who also excels at all blues forms, from swampy grooves to more sophisticated jump and swing numbers. His laid back, but extremely solid rhythmic approach is a key element of Triple Threat's musical foundation.

Steve Radziewicz     drums
When Triple Threat's previous drummer relocated, the band began searching far and wide for a replacement. Incredibly, the solution came in the person of Steve Radziewicz, who lives within walking distance of the band's rehearsal space. Hailing from Pennsylvania, Steve spent many years working with Philly-area bands, playing every variety of gig. While Triple Threat utilizes Steve's versatility, his grasp of traditional blues drumming easily meets the band's high standards. He masters new material quickly, and continually brings creative ideas to rehearsal. A strong communicator, Steve also handles much of the band's booking and promotion.
