Introducing Dani Neff

Danielle "Dani" Neff is an upcoming guitarist from Southern CT. A de-facto member of The Triple Threat Blues Band, she periodically augments the band in live performance.

Triple Threat was the backing band on Dani's debut CD Who's Been Talking. Proceeds form Who's Been Talking benefit The Rhythm & Blues Foundation.

Currently a student in New Haven, Dani will likely become a staple on the Southern CT/NYC  scene.

Her heavy blues style is influenced by Hendrix, Buddy Guy, Albert King, and Stevie Ray. An adept acoustic player, Dani also invokes Gary Davis, Doc Watson, and Blind Blake.

Her current band, a power trio called Common Response, is developing a following; their live show is generating a buzz on both the New Haven and New York City club scenes. Dani is also contributing song-writing and vocal skills. The music is (to us) an appealingly dark blend of influences; a post-Nirvana version of the Doors, infused with some Buddy Guy-influenced guitar work; hints of Lou Reed and Patty Smith with a touch of jam-band musical sensibility.

Look for Dani to sit in with Triple Threat when circumstances allow.

Liner notes from Who's Been Talking:

T-Bone Walker, B.B. King, Howlin' Wolf, Lowell Folsom, Chicago Jimmy Rogers, the Reverend Gary Davis, Junior Wells, Bo Carter and Walter Vinson. Just hearing the names of these blues greats can send a chill down your spine and make butterflies churn in your stomach. Listening to and studying the music of these legends as well as their incomparable peers from the 30s, 40's and 50s can change your life forever - as it did mine.

The songs on this CD are a cross-section of the blues - electrified Chicago blues, Texas blues, acoustic country blues, as well as some original jump and instrumental blues. We have tried to present our versions of these classics to honor and respect these blues icons by playing our hearts out as we know they did (and still do in B.B.'s case!) day after day, year after year.

The men and women of the blues have given the world the foundation of modern music. There is no doubt that rock, country, jazz, R&B, and even rap would not be the same or even exist without the blues. Blues is the pure and elemental source from which these other forms of music spring. When you strip down modern music, you always find the blues.

We owe the blues a debt of gratitude for enriching our lives. Just think how empty our existence would be if we went through our days without hearing the beautiful music that we all enjoy.

Incredibly, many of the people who have given us this gift of music have died penniless. Many of those still with us are sick and trying to survive, some without basic health insurance. Because of this, we are contributing all the proceeds from the sale of this CD to the Rhythm and Blues Foundation, which has a program to help such legendary musicians. We hope you enjoy the music on this album and encourage all of your friends to help out and send any donations to Rhythm and Blues Foundation, 1555 Connecticut Ave. NW #401, Washington, DC 20036-1111, (202) 588-5566, www.rhythm-n-blues.org
