The following are TTBB-approved links, provided for purposes ranging

from the educational, to the comical, to the commercial. Enjoy.

BLUES SITES:

The Blue Highway is widely hailed as the best blues site on the web. It's a good place to start learning about the blues, or get into deeper research. They've got history, bios, news, links & more.

Among the very best sites we've found is the Mudcat. Lots of lyrics (folk and more, not just blues), and a very active (and smart) forum. Highly recommended for folk or blues info.

Blues pianist Mark Naftalin, formerly of the Paul Butterfield Blues Band, currently owns and operates a record label called Winner productions. Members of The Triple Threat Blues Band have had the pleasure of performing with Mark on stage, as well as over the airwaves of WPKN. His fine website includes Winner-related info and blues-related interviews with and/or about such people as Charlie Musselwhite, Nick Gravenitis, Michael Bloomfield, Al Kooper, etc.  The Winner pages are coupled with the Blues Web.  Plenty of info here and a good links page.

Mary4Music.com is a nice, well-organized site dedicated to promoting the blues and indie music. Lots of links & other info. A fine resource for musicians & fans alike.

RADIO:

Bridgeport, CT's WPKN has supported the blues scene for decades. Truly a unique endeavor in radio. "Some songs I like, some songs I don't like..."

Something of a sister station to WPKN, the marvelous WKCR, out of Columbia University, is unparalleled in its treatment of jazz, among other things. Phil Schaap's shows are possibly the best thing in all of radio. A must for jazz fans.

Fairfield University's WVOF has been a friend to The Triple Threat Blues Band and other local artist for many years.  Check out Joe Kelley's Upper Room live each Monday from 4 pm - 8 pm as well as his 24 hour Internet broadcast, which covers  the entire spectrum of the music industry as well as in-depth interviews with local and national artists.

Fordam University's WFUV features a wide variety of blues & folk-based

music. A great mix of old & new material, as well as current info on upcoming releases and greater NYC-area live performances.

Chicago's Northwestern University radio station WNUR supports a terrific website. The Jazz Web page has lots of jazz-related history and other info, and the People in Jazz page has lots of jazz -musician bios.

National Public Radio provides coverage of roots-based American music.

Their web site provides thorough information about the programs they offer and where to tune in. Check out their list of the 100 most important American musical works of the 20th century.

Buddy Rich Tirades:

If you're not aware of these recordings, they require an introduction: Buddy Rich was known as "The Greatest Drummer In the World" for practically all his life. He was also a demanding band leader who could be tough on his musicians. A few of Rich's tirades were recorded by band members, who thankfully captured a bit of musical history. THIS LINK CONTAIN EXTENSIVE EXPLICIT LANGUAGE. WE DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS LINK FOR ANYONE UNDER THE AGE OF 18. However, it is not gratuitous, vulgar, or harmful. It is included strictly because we view this material as important, historic, educational, and inspirational.

We do not wish to portray Mr. Rich solely as an angry band leader. In fairness to the great Buddy Rich, we also recommend a more legitimate look at his life & music, capably provided by The Official Buddy Rich Website. You'll be correctly reminded that Mr. Rich's music is his greatest legacy.
